How to build a better farm
Students will design a farm that balances productivity with environmental sustainability. They will select a location, determine a growing method, choose crops, and develop strategies for pest management, water use, and energy efficiency—all while considering long-term ecological impact. To showcase their ideas, students will create a brochure outlining their farm’s sustainability practices, a detailed farm drawing, and a sustainability model that visually represents key environmental features.
Our guiding questions:
1. What does a farm need to be successful and sustainable?
2. How can farms balance making money with taking care of the planet?
